Absolutely not. I worked in a bank for a few years, and I can tell you a thing or two about how it works. Aside from the high cost of a traditional bank wire, giving out your account number and routing code are a good way to become the victim of fraud. I avoid using conventional paper checks for the same reason. Instead, I use the online bill pay feature of my bank account...the bank sends a physical check, pays the postage, and the check has a one shot account number. Both cheaper and safer, a total win.

As for printing a check, it used to be that check readers required magnetic ink. But maybe they're all optical today. In any event, it would work if you do an online deposit with your phone.
