I know that it is not required as part of the emissions test, but I am going through the process of legalizing my engine swap. The engine from a 1991 500SL into a 1991 560SEL.
The only reason I'm looking for that sticker is because one of the technicians at the Board of Automotive Repair suggested having it to make the first inspection go more smoothly since they will be able to clearly see that the entire emissions system has been swapped over accurately.
I checked in the EPC and I have the part number for both stickers now.
1295848421 (guide sign, vacuum lines, CA, '91-'91 silver)
1295848021 (guide sign, air pollution control, CA, '91-'91 black or yellow)
Also, the dealer won't sell it because it's for emissions. They told me that those stickers were never available for sale and are only put on at the factory. Oh well, I'll find it some how.
