Then your voltage regular must be 5 weeks old as well. It's my experience that when the voltage regular go's out, weird things happen in the dash cluster, like lights start to blink. I would check every ground and cable first and then go to a parts supplier like Auto zone and have them re check the alternator just to be sure it's not a faulty one. They do it for free.
