I had someone hardwired the V1 in three different cars.

I clip the V1 onto the front edge of the visor (the side closer to the windshield) for maximum coverage.

To eliminate the lighter plug, I have a power cord tugged away next to the rear view mirror and everytime I mount the V1, I plug in the cord which has convenience of a RJ11 plug (like a regular phone jack).

If you want stealthy operation, there is also a concealed display unit from Valentine which will dim the V1 main unit.
