Loss of contrast is one undesirable aftereffect but it varies from case to case. It certainly affects night vision which can be a combination os the loss of contrast as well as other visual aberrations. The older equipment tended to cause halos and glare effects because their ablation zones were too narrow. My statements are all oversimplifications and it is really best to do a lot of research beforehand.

That procedure sounds very encouraging. Maybe someday I can have my full vision back. The procedure is experimental and they say they have only performed it on 10 patients. The Canadians have always been a few years ahead of US & FDA approval in this field.
