THAT is a good question. I had to replace mine, which was a simple job aside from the cost.
I should be good to do for the duration [mine] but several guys in our local Benz Club section have 560SL's. If there is ever an answer about the potential VW valve alternative, please follow up. We'd all appreciate it!
