If you only ever witnessed the convoluted calibration procedure ......

There is a "fake ass" that accepts barbell weights and the seat is moved through its ranges with varying weights. If at any measurement any one of the force sensors is out of a fairly narrow tolerance (+-4lbs IIRC) it fails calibration. Just the interference between the back and bottom cushions can fail the calibration so it is standard to punch the seat to "relieve" those stresses before any measurements.

WSS = yet another reason to never own a W211.
