There is a DOD property disposition form given with everything you buy at a property disposal auction. If it indicates a complete vehicle or aircraft and not salvage or parts, the automotive property can be registered and given a title. The same with certain aircraft if in certain conditions, maybe registered and issued an airworthiness tag.
It all depends on what is on that DOD form.
And, there is not a lot of argument about getting one that has the right form titled, as Chevy made that engine available in K5s back then. The .mil stuff is all non weapon related and does not affect the operation of the vehicle in any way.
