Thanks just some pics of what I found.
Note I am also going to replace the steel clips on the shift rod as they are really rusty and likely to snap when I remove them or re-install them.

First off one of the bolts that holds down the shifter housing snapped off due to beint rusted.

My computer is not letting me post pics so I will try to describe.

In the actual shifter housing the Bushing closest to the driver had the flange cracked off and in fact gone and the bushing slid out of the bore towards the passanger side.

The 2 smallest bushings that go on the small shaft that the sring rids on fell apart.

The shifter linkage bushing at the top is entirely gone. I have not taken a look at the bottom one near the Neutral Safety Switch but that is likely also gone.
