That nut MUST be freed up in order to remove the ALDA. Have you tried penetrating oil and letting it sit for a few days? What tools are you using? Use two thin 24mm and 27mm wrenches (i.e. no channel locks). Position them in such a way that, by squeezing them together, you free up the nut.
