If the earlier numbers still exist - well I mean to say they are not replaced by the next - then there is most certainly a subtle difference. In these cases there should be some serial number "from" "to" specification.

If you're running out of luck with EPC I guess the classic centre in California is probably the next port of call. Otherwise there are several US based transmission rebuilders who sell the parts that might be able to help.
