Looks like things are going to work out ok. I won the auction this morning for a very nice blue 1990 300 CE. Significantly less money than fixing the red one and it is a much nicer car to boot. It's a model year older and has a glove box instead of passenger airbag. Better paint by far, way better interior, and about 40K less miles. Not to mention it hasn't had repairs by the red coupe's previous owner. I swear to god, anything they had "fixed" was more F'd up than if it had just been left alone. I fixed more "fixes" than anything else on that car.

While the blue one is a very nice clean example I will of course be swapping over all of the goodies from the red one. The 5 speed trans, big brakes, and sportline suspension will go in as soon as I make the time to get it done. I may even get the V8 rear subframe in when I do the suspension swap.

The red coupe was a very sexy car. The new blue one will likely have more of a classy look. I'll need to find some chrome monoblocks that will fit it. I don't think it can wear the staggered 5 spokes near as well as the red one did.
