MB II is even better. I decided on the i980 purely on the smaller form factor to store in the glove box.
About the link: I started with step 7 because I had 6 incompletes. The instructions only made sense to me after the 3rd read. It's a PITA but totally doable late night with an open stretch of road.

You can pass smog check with the EVAP monitor incomplete. You just have to deal with the AIR.
