Use a multimeter and see what the voltage is at the battery and follow the cables and check + to ground, + to battery -, ground to battery +.

If you do not know how to use a multimeter, take it to an automotive repair shop which does electrical work.
Either you knocked loose a battery cable which needed tightening anyway, or you blew fuses when running the new cable. I'm betting it's the cables, or a really corroded/loose connection at the terminals. Follow the negative cable all the way to the chassis grounds. I don't think your dash work is to blame, IIRC all the grounds behind the dash are on the driver's side behind the inst. cluster.
