Yea that does sound high. I believe my MBs run about 85-90*C on a hot summer day. Lately I almost never see it hit 80*C. It would probably be something larger than the fluid, maybe a thermostat could be a good place to start?!
Did you check your throttle linkage? When I bought the 83 the throttle linkage was so far out of its setting that the car reved like that.
