Diesels at Virginia Beach P-N-P

For those that are lamenting the scarcity of salvage-yard W123s these days, I found a W123 300D sedan in the Virginia Beach Pick-N-Pull yesterday.
I didn't note the year, but it's a non-turbo, pale yellow, straight body. The black dash and tan interior looked dirty but OK except for ripped driver's seat. Headlights were missing. I got the driver's door-panel and the vac-pump to brake-booster vacuum line.

FWIW, as I've heard that non-turbo 300D radiators are made of unobtanium now, that 300D had a brass/copper radiator (aftermarket?). At least those can be repaired, unlike the OE plastic/aluminum ones.

For diesel-heads thinking outside the Mercedes box, they also had an '81 Peugeot 505/stick-shift diesel. Rough brown paint, Complete, except for the gear-shift knob and the grille. I grabbed the German Pierburg belt-driven vacuum pump off it for possible consideration as a future W123 diesel retrofit project.

Happy Motoring, Mark
