It sounds like you pulled the engine in known running condition and swapped it into your car. Now it cranks but won't start.

If you still have the old engine, start looking for electrical connectors in hidden spots that you may have missed? EHA plugged in, etc. Even simple things like the wiring to the distributor from the coil, the coil being hooked up correctly, wires in correct order, etc.
