Ok, I have to admit this. The Blaupunkt knob is too brightly lit, and it was annoying me at night. I didn't want to eliminate the light, just take it down a couple of notches. So I opened the face and used a piece of photograph negative (remember those?) between the dial surround and the LED array to bring it down. If you have a similar radio and want to do this, the face comes apart pretty easily. Just remove the four screws from the back, and separate the front and back cover by prying carefully with a sharp knife. The circuit board is easily pulled away from the face, but mind the microphone, which is attached with thin wires. Don't attempt to remove the knob, work around it.
