I bought a 100k warranty for my wife's Discovery for about $1500 from warrantydirect.com. They let you go anywhere you want for the repair and they pay the shop directly through their credit card so you don't have to pay first and submit for reimbursement. It's saved me a ton of $. I also have a 400E. I didn't get a warranty on that. The repairs have been minimal. I bought the car with 42k miles about a year and a half ago. I put brakes on it $350, and did the major service $600 (neither would be covered anyway) and that's it. The car is bullet proof. I wouldn't worry too much about the 400e.
