It wasn't a lot of coolant maybe a liter or so.
I hope it's just a bad hose.

Something similar happened to my '93 190E 2.3 10 years ago. We were coming home and when I turned into the driveway I heard a pop and stopped before going into the garage. The short hose, water pump to thermostat housing split and coolant leaked out. I first thought is was just a bad hose. Upon further investigation, I found that there was oil in the coolant. The oil contaminated all of the coolant hoses. Yep, a bad head gasket. Removed the head the next day and saw the problem with the head gasket.
Installed new head gasket, along with having the head checked out at the machine shop, all new rubber hoses, and some other new parts. I also flushed the engine and heater core before putting in new coolant.

Still running good so far.
