How about the big one - environmental sustainability. Which pollutes more? An old car on the road kept in a decent state of tune, or scrapping that car and building a new one? The damage done to the environment by scrapping/recycling/building new is astounding! The old car can run for years before it even approaches the amount of pollution and waste created by that process. An automobile used to be considered a "durable good" and for good reason.

Autonomy and inter-car connectivity? Please... Some of us actually ENJOY driving. Next time you're with a group of friends and going somewhere, pay attention to who all wants to drive, I'd be willing to bet just about everyone there will offer at some point in the conversation.

Let's also not forget that the repair shops and garages need work. If everyone just recycles their car every time it's boring or outdated, their work suffers as well.

Call me boring, nostalgic, or old-fashioned. I'll ignore your comments and continue driving myself in cars that I enjoy and plan to keep for long periods of time.
Hallelujah! Can I get a witness!

Not only do I love driving, I truly enjoy working on my "babies" as well. 😉
