I had the same problem, I fixed it by drilling a little hole just in front of the thread, then squeesing the wire in and soldering it up, now it holds well and conducts even better.

I also saw a post somewhere that you can break away pieces of the ceramic boot and solder whe wire directly on there, but I don't want to try that.
