Good luck finding parts. I just had this problem on my 190dt. The flex pipe is on worldwide backorder, no production scheduled. I managed to clamp the broken ends together with a strap clamp, still looking for a good front pipe.

Just a guess: the broken pipe lowered pressure in the turbine section, allowing more oil to leak into the exhaust.
