I once lived there for a few months. I never got caught in any flooding but everyone warned me not but a house close to the water.

So how close is close? One look at an elevation map showed how flat the place is.

In the end I settled in Sugarland, renting a house right on a canal. The Brazos never has gotten above 60 feet and the elevation of my place was 100 feet.

Still, what good is being on dry land if all the streets are flooded?
