Close Encounters

I've just come back from seeing Close Encounters of the 3rd kind in the theater. It's just been re-mastered and there was an interesting short docu before it with Spielberg and a few others talking about it. Quite interesting.

I had never seen the film before. Saw excerpts over the years but missed it when it came out and never did see the whole thing till now. My wife kind of dragged me off to it and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. A nonsense plot, more of a fairy tale than anything else, but I think it was a well done fairy tale.

What was most noticeable I thought were the special effects. Quaintly impressive would be a good description. Especially compared to modern films where everything is simply CGI to the extent that there seems little real craft left in production now.
