Update on Vacuum Pump failure
On 09/04/2017 I posted that my pump had failed.
I have installed a new pump and dropped the oil pan to see if there were any
balls in it...there were none. I installed the new pump. It worked well, 21 in
of vac. engine runs smooth and strong. Trans shifts really well. Engine
stops quick.
HOWEVER There is clanging/banging from the lower , driver's side of the
engine, comes and goes. Listening tool puts it in the area of the Timing Drive.
The "Failed" pump still had all the balls. The Timing drive looked clean.
Car is an '82 CDT, still runs really strong, Same old car only it has this ..BAD.
Noise. Noise comes and goes.
While installing the pump I turned the Timing device to put the bolts horizontal
as suggested by the instructions (Clockwise).
I think this drive thing is above my experience level. This nice old car may
have just become a parts car. Can anyone give me any hope on this. ???
