I am here in the LA area and I was curious if anyone had any suggestions for a shop to do a Transmission Rebuild or swap - depending on what is cheaper? I have a 1981 300SD (w126). I have been putting off getting the transmission rebuilt or swapped and now it's time...

I had one quote for roughly $3K? I was hoping for the $1500-$2k range if possible.
