From what I recall, the M104 in a R129 / W202 have the same pan with a more forward sump where a M104 in a W124 / W210 has a sump pushed back 2" or so.

Early Euro R129 could be had with a M103 , USA market got the 3.0 M103 block with a M104 style 24 Valve head. ( the intake ports are different than the later EFI ports )
