I have been using HP laser printers exclusively for the last 20 years. If you are satisfied with black and white they are the way to go. My current printer is an M425dn, bought 2 years ago. I print a lot more than you -- about 8,000 pages a year. I get more than 3,000 pages from HP toner but switched from those two months ago due to expense ($80 to $100 per cartridge). I am now using v4ink cartridges bought from Amazon; they come in packages of 2 and cost about $20 a cartridge. I am still on the first one and have printed 1,450 pages and still have 60% of the supply left according to the printer status page. The print quality is as good as HP. That is essentially free printing.

Black Friday is now upon us. Now is the time to switch if you want laser. The selections at the office supply stores (Office Depot, Office Max or Staples) are better than Best Buy.
