a buddy of mine has a similar car with similar issue and sure as rain it was low about a quart on ATF.

jack the car up and use a spirit level to make sure the car is perfectly straight then test ATF level.

btw - ATF 134 is cheap, why use maxlife when you can buy the shell one. Its a bit more than maxlife.
