Bleeding the ASD system in 10 easy steps:
1. Make sure the car is in park, the parking brake is set, and be sure it's not going to fall on you or roll away when you are under it.
2. Remove ASD relay.
3. Insert jumper wire from the number 8 to the number 10 pin slots in the wire harness where the relay was. I used a coathanger section that I bent to shape and then beveled the edges and filed the sides so it went in smoothly without damaging the wire connectors.
4. Clean up bleeder screw at the right side of the differential by the axle shaft, then attach a clear piece of tubing and feed it down into a container on the ground.
5. Make sure there is enough fluid in the ASD reservoir.
6. Start engine.
7. Loosen screw on bleeder on differential and wait for fluid to start flowing out. Once it flows at a decent rate, watch until no air bubbles come out.
8. Shut bleeder screw, remove clear tubing, wiper bleeder screw clean, and replace rubber cap.
9. Shut off engine.
10. Remove jumper wire and replace relay.
If you want to flush old fluid out of the system, I recommend draining and cleaning the reservoir and replacing the filter and lid seal. Then do the bleeding procedure while topping off the reservoir until the fluid coming out looks clean. Oh, and make sure that you only use magical hydraulic oil (NOT transmission or power steering fluid), either straight from the dealership, or from Febi. There may be other approved brands, but these two are the only ones of which I am aware.
