A brand means that the seller validates the part as "as good as if made by me". This began in old England (guys named "Smith") who became well-known makers and got more orders than they could fill. The brand name itself has value and is commonly bought and sold. The problem is when companies degrade the name by just rubber-stamping parts they don't supervise. Sounds like Meyle decided that brought more shareholder value. Don't get angry, it is just capitalism. Sites like this help people determine true values.
