The fuel smell is probably caused by the electro-hydraulic actuator (EHA). It's a black rectangular module mounted on the back side of the fuel distributor. Check for wetness underneath it.

With it pouring this morn, your serpentine belt might have gotten wet and perhaps your tensioner is failing so the belt does not have the proper tension.
