Oh, and word to the wise.... NEVER let a cloth or paper towel, wiper or anything touch an automatic transmission part. Don't even lay them on a rag, lay them in a new clean plastic or aluminum pan. Do not wipe them with a rag. For cleaning, bathe in a solvent (mineral spirits or a spray type cleaner like CRC brand MAF cleaner) and blow off with compressed air. Bathe in trans fluid before putting back in.

I worked for a guy who had a legendary trans rebuild shop and that's where I learned this secret of transmission work. His transmission bench was a big shallow stainless steel sink with a parts cleaner pump circulating fresh ATF continuously. Everything was cleaned elsewhere and then when surgically clean, assembled in that bench/sink. It only takes a few little wads of lint, cat fur, paper fibers, etc.. to clog up a valve or check ball, which will cause no end of grief.
