The 500E is a monster to maintain, i'm gonna admit it. I'd say in a year, i spent $5,000 in maintanence.
But, its the first year i've had it, and the seller leaves you with getting new break pads and rotors, new tires, and i had to pay like for the 75,000 mile tuneup, and all of that. I'd estimate this year hopefully $2000 in maintanence.
There are alot of factors in the 500E's price. I paid $24,000 for a two tone with dark grey and light grey on the bottom, with 72,000 miles on it. Mine unfortunately had a small electric fire in the engine bay around 76,000 miles. They don't know what happened, it needed a new wiring harness and re-wired. It had a clean record, beautiful condition.
I've seen tan 500E's go for about $20,000 with 90k miles on it. It really all depends. But, i'd say expect atleast $19,000 for one. I'll tell you what though, i'd pay the extra money for the 500E, it's a really amazing car. Though 420's are sweet, theres no doubt about it. The 500E just has the unique history and the rarity. And some extra HP and TRQ
