I have a dash cam, but instead of the clip-on I got a dedicated dash cam instead. Have it in my non-MB cars, but I move it to my MB when I drive it around (using the suction cup mount).
There are many options out there - do you plan to wire it up for parking monitoring also? Do you need a more discreet option? Something with wifi and app so you can easily download files? Many things to consider.
My personal preference is the Transcend Drivepro 220 (now discontinued, and replaced with 230).
