The fluid was checked by a mercedes mechanic with the $28? special dip stick. It is indeed yellow synthetic. I usually do the tranny service myself (had 190 td), but will probably want to let one of the local qualified mechanics do it if it is affordable. Is that an oxymoron? Thanks for the feedback.
