What do you mean by " die down " ? Does the engine slow down or does the car slow down and the engine RPM stays high?
If this is an ASR problem, the engine RPM will go low.
If the engine is losing power due to a fuel or ignition problem and you are harder into the throttle, the trans will shift late.
If there is a transmission slipping problem, the RPM will go high.
It is critical to get an accurate description of the problem. What is the history of this car? How long have you had it? Was this new problem that suddenly occurred or did it slowly get worse over time?
