If this is an ASR problem, the engine RPM will go low.
If the engine is losing power due to a fuel or ignition problem and you are harder into the throttle, the trans will shift late.
If there is a transmission slipping problem, the RPM will go high.
It is critical to get an accurate description of the problem. What is the history of this car? How long have you had it? Was this new problem that suddenly occurred or did it slowly get worse over time?

We can drive for a few miles at regular speed, then all of a sudden it gets high rpms and lower speed. Dont think its ASR. Car drove great, until the kickdown switch got stuck in the carpet. We removed it and car drove great for a few days. Now it does this high rpms and lower speed, it down shifts when it wants to usually after a few miles. The history of the car, I just bought it a month ago, we changed radiator and fan belt. So the problem just happened after the kick down switch was removed. We put it back in under the pedal. Still not running great. A friend cleaned out the filters and he drove it said it drove 90 mph down the road no problem. When we get in to drive it normally not racing it. We slow downed to turn onto the highway and it did the same thing, darn car. CAR SLOWS DOWN RPMS HIGH. thks for any help
