the reason for bad health in USA is primarily not because of meats, dairy and eggs its because of extremely expensive healthcare. Now speaking of social media, I dont think the bushmen in the kalahari know what social media is and they can really teach you a lesson in forage. - They themselves dont eat meats daily (not because of its scarcity either)

They have lived their way for thousands of years - why are not they extinct? Human is an omnivore and an omnivore eats meats too.

dogs OTOH - when in the wild dont eat berries or veggies, they hunt down their meal and eat it. same as big cats - they dont "feast" on a bed of tabbouli salad - they kill a hoofed animal and eat that. Should we show them some social media clips too?
Are others here not doing the same thing--trying really hard to prove something they are okay with is perfectly fine for everyone else, too?

With that said, it is perfectly fine for everyone else, too. Why wouldn't it be? Because some people are addicted to the taste of meat? Smoking is addictive, too, and people try to justify that, but least the only victim is the smoker (or person suffering from second-hand smoke).

The number one premature killer for Americans is heart and cardiovascular disease. The largest cause of heart and cardiovascular disease is diet. Consumption of animal products are positively associated with both. Lack of exercise is another key factor. Simply removing animal products from one's diet alone can reverse heart disease.

Lack of healthcare is an issue, but isn't prevention more important than treatment? If you're not unhealthy in the first place, healthcare isn't as important. I'm not saying healthcare isn't important, just that I believe that preventing the illness is more important.

Good example with the Kalahari bushmen. Cultures that eat mostly plants have also survived for thousands of years.

An omnivore CAN eat meat, but doesn't HAVE to for good nutrition.

Wild dogs actually do sometimes eat berries, vegetables, and fruit, though it's far from their main diet. They kill animals to eat because it's about the only way they can eat. Domestic dogs can eat meat and some plants. They can also eat just plants as long as they get a good balance of nutrition.

Of course big cats don't eat a tabouli salad--that's absurd. A big cat is a true carnivore, and also wouldn't understand social media clips. Big cats kill animals because they have to, to survive. A human doesn't, neither does a domestic dog that a human keeps as a pet. So why would we not choose the most compassionate option when presented with a choice? Because we like the taste and the animal can go suck a lemon?

I don't expect to convince anyone to go vegan, but hope I give others things to think about so maybe one day it will click and makes sense to them. My dogs and I are living proof that a person can live healthy on a vegan diet. There is no shortage of vegans who are doing well and some are even extremely muscular and body-builders. Most are in better health than the average person.

It's a fact that a human and dogs can easily live healthy on a vegan diet. It's just a question of whether a person decides if it bothers them that they're causing suffering and death to animals when it's not necessary. As we can see, not everyone cares. It's a choice, but remember, it's a choice that involves a victim.
