2) The upper pan uses no gasket but it DOES require anerobic (sp?) gasket sealer, which means that it sets in the absence of oxygen. Silicone sealant is NOT correct in this application. Permatex makes it and I found mine at Advance, in stock and ready to go. It was fairly cheap and that joint remains dry.

Agreed, an anaerobic sealant is required for the machined upper oil pan to block sealing surfaces.
I will not be puchase or use the REINZOSIL, even though the ad copy says it can be used.
The 'SIL" in the product name should have been an obvious clue that it is an RTV silicone type sealant.
