Try to find a decent mid-level or pro lab that does prints for a reasonable price. With any luck, you should get better quality prints, with lower contrast, more neutral color casts, and sharper prints. Especially on these pics, mostly I see a lot of shadow, with not a lot of detail in them - generally the result of giving high contrast photos to a chain store.

The other alternative is to buy a light table, loupe, and shoot slide film. That's a larger up-front investment (but lower processing costs), and slide film is much less forgiving of exposure variances (course, you'll learn how to read exposure a lot faster! ).
