Apparently during the testing phase of the SR-71 they were seeing what would happen if there CG was moved father back. They had a engine failure due to an unstart (see the video) and at Mach 3.1 @78k feet and the plane tore itself apart. The pilot survived, the RO did not. Pretty amazing that the pilot survived a catastrophic failure at that altitude.
