A quick and simple job would be to check the insulation under the bonnet ( hood ? ) as this tends to get brittle and flake off over the years. It is easy to attach with impact adhesive and caused a dramatic drop off in noise on my 500SEL. Waffle side to face the engine, and dont forget to clean the driveway afterwards !
