Don't let the possibility of "Black Death" scare you from buying a CDI. Even the worst case (like I had), is not that big of a deal.

These cars are awesome in many respects, and are becoming affordable. If you could find one that actually has B.D., you could probably get it at a steep discount, and fix it for a fraction of the dealer cost.

I think his review is spot on. I have had two CDI's and a Bluetec. I would suggest staying away from the Bluetec, unless you can acquire one like I did (79K miles from new-wrecked for $3,000). Good CDI's are going for five grand and up- much less than when I started looking for them.....Rich
