Porsche Panamera Diesel

Quote:
We're not getting the diesel-powered Porsche Panamera 4S in the US. We asked Porsche, and a spokesperson told us it doesn't have "any plans to sell diesel models in the US." But, we think we can still take a moment to appreciate the greatness of the Panamera 4S and its 4.0-liter diesel V8.

We were awoken to this oil-burning Panamera's charms by a Top Gear drag race video that features the Porsche outrunning an Audi SQ7, which uses a similar engine. The Panamera put down a 3.8-second 0-60 mph run, and hit 100 mph in under 10 seconds. Those are impressive numbers, especially by big diesel luxury-sedan standards.

Porsche's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 diesel offers a respectable 416 hp, but it's its 627 lb-ft of torque that's the bigger deal here. That's as much torque as the 680-hp Panamera Turbo S E Hybrid.
