Much easier to pull one on a W126 than a W124. I would do it, but it is not hard at all to me to R&R. Hell, I build my own transmissions...
Buy that trans jack from Harbor Freight with the 20% off coupon. Shanghai a pal with beer and some grub. Easy job. Starting at 10am can probably have car on the road by 6pm your first time out.
I work slow as I torque everything to spec.
BTW - if this is on your 300SE, R&R the idler bushing while exhaust is off. This job is not possible otherwise. Also, consider flex discs while the driveshaft is out.
