Resurrecting an old thread instead of starting a new one.

How much should I shorten the drive shaft for my swap? Putting an OM617a into my '79 240D. I have the front part of the driveline off, before the carrier bearing - I'm assuming this is the only part I will need to shorten. Not sure of the part number, but I will check it tomorrow.
