Both sides of the filter have counter nuts attached. You place an open end wrench on the counter nut; then break the fuel line attachment loose. You'd turn the counter nut clockwise and the fuel connection counter-clockwise to loosen.

There are at least 2 washers that need to be replaced when you reconnect. They'll come off when you get the fuel lines apart.
