1985 300TD 296k mi.

On Sunday I was rearended by a minivan. Fortunatley I saw it coming and was able to at least keep from eating the car in from of me.

The only visible damage is a crack in the center of the rear bumper. I havent had time to crawl under the car and look at the body so something may be bent.

Question:
When replacing the bumper will both bumper and shocks have to be changed? One piece?

Any other advice is welcome. I'm planning on doing the work myself once I get all the necessary parts/estimate and Insurance $$$.
